Qualifications:
I completed a Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in Sociology.
I have completed training in suicide prevention, AOD, mental health, family violence and leadership.
Experience:
I have over six years of experience in the sector, beginning my journey as a mental health support worker in 2019. I then transitioned to a support coordinator role, eventually leading a team of support workers and support coordinators. In 2022, I joined My Right 2 Voice as a specialist support coordinator. Recently, I have taken on the role of complex practice lead in the specialist support coordination department, and I am excited to navigate this new space.
Specialisation:
I have a keen interest in working with complexity, including individuals with dual or multiple diagnoses. I am experienced in supporting those facing barriers to service provision, such as alcohol and other drugs (AOD) issues, homelessness, or significant mental health concerns
Achievements & Success Stories:
I have had the opportunity to support individuals experiencing significant periods of instability in their lives, helping them establish functional and sustainable care teams and support networks. In addition to assisting people in sustaining their tenancies or finding new housing options, I have also supported individuals in exercising dignity of risk, an important aspect of care that is not often discussed.
Success Story:
I have been working with a client for an extended period who has a history of inpatient psychiatric admissions and instability in his life. Through consistent support and stable accommodation, he has not required a psychiatric admission for at least two and a half years. Additionally, the care team successfully evidenced his need for additional supports under the NDIS.
